Thomas sees them and races out into the Maze to help, breaking a cardinal rule. Thomas and Teresa and the others who made it out now feel they have the chance for a bright and normal future. That night Teresa tells Thomas that she has triggered the end. Of course, Thomas has no idea what the Changing is or why this total stranger is suspicious of him. After spending a day in jail Thomas begins his training under Minho. Then there is the climax. He wishes to stay in the Glade and even tries to sabotage an escape plan.
When Teresa comes out of her coma, Thomas realizes they can talk telepathically to each other. Gally draws a knife and throws it at Thomas. If someone is pricked they undergo a process. She will be the last one sent to the Glade. It is where the Grievers enter and exit the Maze. They are both gifted with telepathy. Sorry, but copying text is forbidden on this website! Thomas is able to look at the real maps with Teresa's help.
He wonders why he lives in a giant maze. But surviving the sun flares was easy compared to what came next. Thomas wakes up in a metal box with no memory of who he is. Then she falls into a deep coma. There are doors that open in the day allowing people to enter the maze and the doors close at night, sealing the boys in the safety of the glade. The words are the password. The majority of Gladers blame the abnormal events on Thomas, saying its his fault.
Hearing approaching Grievers, Minho leaves Thomas with an unconscious Alby. The Homestead, a large house in the Glade, is boarded up and reinforced as the Gladers wait for the Grievers to enter the area at night. Those who survived live in basic communities in the mountains, hunting for food. The Gladers then realize the entrances to the maze no longer close during the night, allowing the Grievers to roam the Glade during the night the grievers come every night and take a Glader With them. And every 30 days a new boy has been delivered in the lift. Chuck also says that the walls in the maze move every night. The words have no relation to each other.
But the next day, a girl is sent up the first girl to ever arrive in the Glade. Thomas thinks that it is his fault that Chuck died and feels guilty for not keeping his promise to Chuck and therefore puts him in conflict with himself. Thomas feels a connection to her, as if he knows her. Since arriving in the maze, Thomas makes both friends and enemies and proves to be a leader among the other boys with him in the maze. The majority of Gladers blame the abnormal events on Thomas, saying its his fault.
He only remembers his name. Chuck starts to tell Thomas information about the Glade. When someone badly messes up the order they have to get banished. Things start to get fishy when the first girl, Teresa, shows up at the Glade. Over the past few weeks I read Maze Runner by James Dashner and copyrighted in 2009 and thought it was amazing. The cliff is an illusion to trick them. Thankfully, the maps burned were all decoys.
See the boys only get one newbie a month and the day right after Thomas was sent to the glade another person was sent. She begins to communicate with him telepathically. The walls stop closing at night so they sleep in the homestead for safety. The Glade is surrounded by a gigantic Maze in which mechanical creatures called Grievers roam at night. Thomas is shocked and scared by this. Thomas devises a way for everyone to escape; but, the pathway is not an easy one. This book is written very skillfully and keeps the readers on their toes throughout the whole book.
Thomas realizes that the Glade is a fabricated place and that the sky was never real. The pair is always seen together and enjoying each others company. Alby banishes Ben for attempting to murder Thomas. Alby dies during the escape attempt by throwing himself onto a Griever. Their survival depends on the Gladers' destruction—and they're determined to survive.
